Ladakh: This is one of the most remote and mythical regions in India. Carved through its center by the headwaters of the Indus River, Ladakh sits high in a Himalayan valley between the Ladakh and Zaskar ranges, close to the Chinese border. Ladakh's biggest attraction are its ancient gompas, or Buddhist monasteries, which contain some of Asia's greatest wonders of gold and tapestry work.

Lahaul: The valley of Lahaul lies in what would surely rate as some of the most beautiful alpine territory in the Indian sub-continent. A region of harsh terrain, friendly people and mountains which make for some memorable treks.

Sangla Valley: The Valley, also known as the Baspa Valley, has been called the `most beautiful valley in the Himalayas’. Although the indignant residents of countless other valleys across the mountains may disagree, there is definitely some justification for the claim. The Sangla Valley stretches across what was once a glacier moraine but is today a gorgeous swathe of green, dwarfed by the surrounding mountains.

Spiti: Spiti is a sub-division of the district of Lahaul-Spiti (Lahaul is the other sub-division); the main town of Spiti is Kaza. A high-altitude bare desert, Spiti is bisected by the Spiti River, which runs from the slopes of Kunzum La Pass to Sumdo. Spiti’s still an undeveloped area- with few facilities outside the main town, Kaza- but its unspoilt beauty is such that not too many trekkers complain. Walk along the Spiti river; trekking up to one of the thirty-odd Buddhist monasteries or labour up to one of the villages which cling to the mountainsides: Spiti is undeniably beautiful, whether you’re looking for panoramic views, quiet old monasteries, or friendly villages.
